Catering information

Following on from food allergen information:

What to do in case of a medical emergency after food consumption:

1. If a client suddenly becomes seriously ill and collapses, contact the nominated first aiders in the first instance. If, however, the first aiders cannot be contacted immediately, call 999 and give the following information: “This is an emergency. A client has collapsed and we believe they are suffering from anaphylaxis.” (Pronounced anna-fill-axis)

2. Someone should wait at the entrance to the establishment to direct the ambulance crew to the patient.

3. Do not administer medication under any circumstances.

4. Remember, in severe cases of anaphylactic shock, death from contact with the wrong food can take place in less than 10 minutes. Immediate action is vital.
