The Gourmand's 'Veggie Option': Our Favourite Meat-free Canapes
With vegetarianism sweeping London as a major food trend in 2017, we know it takes a lot more than a couple of 'veggie options' to please the discerning modern herbivore. Veganism is also taking root across the UK. The Vegan Society reporting more than half a million Britons spurning animal products altogether.
Far from an afterthought, vegan and vegetarian canapes have long been an integral part of our repertoire here, at All in Hand Catering. We love to continually push the envelope with more plant-based creations. Here are some of our favourites:
While parmesan is off the menu for vegetarians, other cheeses are fine. Try our crostini with goat cheese and onion marmalade or classic skewers of mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. Our hot veggie canapes include steamed vegetable dim sum and butternut squash risotto, creme fraiche and chives served on a spoon.
Our cucumber cups with roasted vegetable salsa or cous cous in beetroot basil cups are fresh made and vibrant and perfect for a plant-based diet. From our hot menu, some all-time favourites include mini falafels with harissa hummus, chargrilled Mediterranean vegetables in tortillas, and the tasty aubergine and olive truffles.
All of our dessert canapes are vegetarian, so take your pick from mini fruit pavlovas, fresh strawberry shortcake, and a variety of others. Many can also be adapted with vegan ingredients to suit your event, including our popular five-spiced apple tarte tatin and salted chocolate tart squares.
